Having cycled the Mosel last year this year we decided to do a cycle ride round Brittany. we Based the first half of the trip an a book called
France En Velo.
We booked the over night ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo which despite my concerns about sea sickness actually turned out to be an enjoyable crossing. We arrived in St Malo fresh for the ride ahead.
On leaving the harbor we made our way to the start point On the Promenade over looking the Fort National

Continuing along the D201 we arrived at the turn off to Visit Pointe du Grouin and its great views of the headland. We rode on to Cancale (which was very busy as it was market day) the Oyster capital of France

After cycling down to the beach we tackled the steep hill back up to the main road turning right onto the D76 after 8km we turned right onto the D155 signed for Mont St Michel. From here we followed a cycle path along side the road to Le Vivier-sur-Mer where the D155 turnes into the D797. We followed the D797 till it veared inland this is where we differed from the book instead we continued on along the D82 following signs for a cycle route keeping left at the church in Cherrueix we followed this road a short while till reaching a small passageway on the left signed as access to the beach (called Cale Du Han) where we joined the cycle route on reaching Chapelle St Anne (where there are picnic benches)
